Values are chosen for all the approximately 24,000 real estate parcels in the county. These values are established by the Riley County Appraiser’s office. During Thursday’s Riley County Commission meeting, County Appraiser, Greg McHenry said his department has just completed the 2015 final review process. Change of value notices will be sent out on February 13th. This is two weeks ahead of the March 1st deadline, which McHenry said is due to the fact that his department sometimes has heightened years for notices. If the amount of notices is lower, then it just gives the appraiser’s office a head start…

One man is dead after the small aircraft in which he was flying crashed into a TV tower while approaching an airport in West Texas. The crash knocked the TV station off the air and cut power in the local area. Power was knocked out briefly at United Supermarkets Arena where the Kansas State Men’s Basketball team played Texas Tech on Wednesday night delaying tip-off for about 10 minutes. The accident was in no way connected to Kansas State or its personnel.

Two bids were submitted for the College Hill Preschool network cabling project-one local bid and one from Missouri. Manhattan Ogden USD 383 school board members had the chance to review the bids during Wednesday night’s school board meeting. Although board members prefer to give their business to local companies, the Missouri bid came in lower. Board members mentioned that the upcoming budget cuts make their situation pretty limited, and approved the $16,500 bid from Raytown, Missouri on a unanimous vote. Powercat Gameday Recruiting Special hosted by Corey Dean and John Kurtz. Kansas State head coach Bill Snyder released the Wildcats’ 2015 recruiting class Wednesday with the announcement of 24 student-athletes who plan on joining or have already joined the K-State football program. The 2015 signing class is made up of 23 players from the high school ranks, as well as one community-college player. Of the group, five are currently enrolled at K-State and will participate in April’s spring practices.
