Over 450 people crowded the Manhattan Conference Center to celebrate the Greater Manhattan Community Foundation’s (GMCF) first annual awards ceremony. Foundation president, Vern Henricks said its long been his desire to recognize the work of volunteers, donors and non-profit employees in the area. “We really felt like there was an opportunity here to make people aware of some of the needs and some of the great things our non-profits are taking care of for the community,” Henricks said. MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Needing a big hit, the Minnesota Twins instead turned a little tapper back to the mound into big trouble for the Kansas City Royals. For the second day in a row, the Kansas State Wildcats jumped out to an early lead at Texas Tech but could not hold on as the Red Raiders rallied for a 7-4 victory to clinch the Big 12 series between the two teams Saturday afternoon at Dan Law Field in Lubbock. Every spring, Wamego hosts the annual tulip festival, and this year was the 27th year of the event.  The festival is held in Wamego City Park, and many home gardens throughout the town feature colorful tulips. Over 150 craft and artisan vendors are located throughout the park.  Some of the items being sold included-jewelry, purses, clothing, candles, soaps, toys, art, and home decor. The two day event also featured over a dozen food trucks and vendors.  Funnel cakes, barbeque, stir fry, and wood-fire pizzas were some of the foods available.
