Appearing in Geary County District Court, Jason Nazario, who faces charges which include rape, entered a plea. Nazario is charged in two separate cases, including the alleged rape of a 13 year old victim and failing to register as a sex offender. Nazario pled not guilty to the rape charge during his court appearance Wednesday.  He did not request a jury trial and he will appear in court on January 30th for another status hearing. As far as the case involving failing to register as a sex offender, Nazario will appear in court next week for sentencing.

Kelsey and Kylie McCarthy signed their letters of intent to play golf at Ft. Hays State Wednesday at Manhattan High School. Both sisters chose the Tigers over Baker and insisted they didn’t go into the recruiting process intending on playing at the same school. The sisters have been varsity golfers at MHS since they were Freshmen, and the duo finished tied for 10th at the state tournament this season. They helped lead the Indians to a fifth place finish as a team. They combined for over 50 medals during their MHS careers and the Indians tallied 25 first or second…

Kansas State’s Football team will have a new wrinkle as they prepare for their Alamo Bowl game against UCLA on January 2. They’ll be preparing out of temporary headquarters in the West Stadium Center. The team has moved out of its normal facility the Vanier Football Complex on the north end of Bill Snyder Stadium and on Monday, crews began to demolish the complex which will be replaced by a new four-story structure expected to be completed by the start of next season. Nino Williams scored 14 points and Marcus Foster added 13 as the Kansas State Wildcats edged Bradley 50-47 Tuesday night in Men’s Basketball action at Bramlage Coliseum. The first half was marked by long scoring droughts by both teams especially K-State which went nearly 17 minutes without a Field Goal and a stretch of 8:57 without a single point. Former Manhattan mayor Bruce Snead spoke to those attending the joint Manhattan city commission and parks and recreation advisory board during the strategic facilities improvement plan update on Tuesday night in city hall, and he was upbeat about the progress by the committee and researchers.
