The reward is up to $15,000 for information leading to an arrest in the reported abduction of Carlesha Freeland-Gaither. The Fraternal Order of Police added its own $5,000 reward Tuesday to the $10,000 the city approved Monday for information on the disappearance of 22-year-old Freeland-Gaither. Detectives say a witness reported seeing a woman identified as Freeland-Gaither yelling for help as she was forced into a dark gray four-door vehicle at about 9:40 p.m. Sunday in Germantown.

KANSAS CITY, KANSAS – Kansas Federal Court Judge Daniel Crabtree today overturned the state’s ban on marriage for same-sex couples. The decision strikes down the 2005 Kansas Marriage Amendment that defines marriage as a “civil contract between one man and one woman only” in the Kansas Constitution, declaring any other definition of marriage as void. Early Tuesday morning, the power went out in Wamego.  According to City Manager Merl Page, this was a scheduled outage for adjustments with Westar, but they did not anticipate a complete outage.  He said there was a switching problem that caused damage to an insulator, causing a complete outage for about 2 hours.

Riley County Police executed a search warrant and made an arrest related to drugs in the 1300 block of Yuma Street in Manhattan on Monday at approximately 9:30 AM. Richard Smith, 40, of Wichita, Kansas was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bond wasset at  $7,500. ### Also taken into custody Monday was Anthony Murphy, 49, of Manhattan on a probation violation, with no bond set. The K-State women’s basketball team opened up 2014 with a sluggish win against Emporia State 54-50. Emporia State led at the half 22-21 but the Wildcats would outscore ESU 33-28 in the second half. Bre Lewis was the only Wildcat in double figures with 14 points on 5 of 12 from the field. She also had eight rebounds, three blocks and three steals.
