Gov. Chris Christie rests on a post as he addresses a large gathering Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014, in Middletown, N.J., during a town hall meeting. Christie returned to Republican-controlled Monmouth County on Thursday for his first town hall since private emails revealed a political payback scandal in which his associates ordered traffic lanes closed, causing lengthy backups. But the scandal didn’t come up. Instead, the 51-year-old Republican heard from residents who have not returned to their homes since the 2012 storm.

Cody Lenahan smacked a three-run bases clearing double to left center field to give Portland a 3-0 lead over K-State in the top of the second inning, and the Pilots carried that on to a 5-2 victory over the Cats on Thursday afternoon at Louis Gisto Field in Moraga, CA. A tactical repeater was taken out of Aggieville, and was placed on the north side of Bill Snyder Family Stadium during the football season, and remained there for the duration of the season.  With that portion of the stadium undergoing renovations soon, Emergency Management Director, Pat Collins raised his concerns with Riley County Commissioners, during their Thursday meeting. Flint Hills Regional Council Executive Director Bill Clark is changing positions. Clark tells KMAN he is relinquishing his full time position with the Regional Council  as part of an organizational financial decision.   He will still work with the organization in a reduced capacity.   Clark has  accepted the position of Director of Business Operations with USD 475 in Geary County. Clark had talked on KMAN’s “In Focus”  last week about some pending changes in the leadership of the Flint Hills Regional Council.

The Flint Hills Metropolitan Planning Organization has hired URS Corporation out of Minneapolis to assist in the development of the region’s first Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP). URS will team with Shockey Consulting, Schwab Eaton and Toole Design Group to prepare the multi-modal long-range plan.   The planning process will kick-off in April and take about 18 months to complete. A St. Mary’s man has been bound over on charges of second degree homicide and aggravated assault following a preliminary hearing in Pottawatomie county District Court.   Pablo Gonzalez will go before the district court for arraignment on February 25th and remains confined on a one million dollar bond.   Gonzaelz was arrested in connection with the death of  Levi Bishop, 24, of Rossville early New Year’s Day. Bishop was a passenger in a vehicle with Gonzalez and was found deceased inside the vehicle from a gunshot wound at about 4:43 a.m. that day.

A 35-year-old Ogden man was taken into custody by Riley county police Wednesday on a failure to appear warrant. Jody Hildebrand was arrested by police while at the Riley County Police Department  at about 11:45 AM. Hildebrand was arrested on a failure to appear warrant for the original offense of burglary. He was confined on $7,000 bond at the Riley County Jail. And Wednesday at 3:10 PM, the Riley County Police Department arrested Milly Vazquez, 19, of Manhattan for unlawful possession of a hallucinogen.
