TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) A Kansas school efficiency commission has recommended studying ways that districts can share administrative operations. The study recommended Friday by the K-12 Student Performance and Efficiency Commission comes as the issue of consolidation has become an issue in the governor’s race. Gov. Brownback has accused Democratic gubernatorial candidate Paul Davis of nominating a pro-consolidation appointee to the commission. Davis and appointee John Vratil insist that’s not true. Riley County Police arrested two people on probation violation warrants Thursday afternoon. Stephanie Bryan, 22, of Wamego was taken into custody on a probation violation warrant issued by the Riley County District Court stemming from original charge of making false information. Her bond was set at $10,000. And Timothy Holmes, 43, of Ogden’s probation violation stems from an original charge of battery. Unemployment figures in Manhattan are down as of August, dropping 1 percent from August of last year. According to the Kansas Department of Labor, Kansas labor force estimates rest at 4.7 percent for August of 2014, as compared to 5.7 percent from August 2013. This is also down compared to July of 2014, as the rate sat at 5.1 percent. Surrounding Riley County shows a decrease in unemployment as well. August’s rate is a .7 percent drop from August of 2013, now at 4.3 percent. Clay County’s August rate is 3.7 percent unemployment, almost a full percentile down from 4.6 percent…
