The Junction City Police Dept. has received a couple of complaints about a subject identifying himself as Eric Foster with the Internal Revenue Service stating an outstanding debt is owed. A bus driver for USD 383 filed a report with the RCPD yesterday after an altercation with a family member of a student riding on her bus. Bonnie Haines-Kidder, 58, of Manhattan reported criminal threat, assault and criminal trespass on September 11th at approximately 10:00 AM. According to the police report, no children were in danger during the time of the incident, however an argument began between the family member and the driver. The suspect boarded the bus and began an argument, including threatening Haines-Kidder with bodily harm. Officers continue to investigate, but no arrests have been made. The RCPD…

The reconstruction of McDowell Creek Road has been a topic brought up during several previous Riley County Commission meetings, and the topic was revisited during Thursday’s meeting. Public Works Director, Leon Hobson reminded the commission of their most recent discussion in late July-where commissioners viewed and discussed seven different options involving price reductions for the project. At that time, commissioners accepted four of the seven options, including reducing the pavement thickness from 10″to 9″ over the entire project.
