McDowell Creek Road Reconstruction Design Changes

    0
By KMAN Staff on September 11, 2014 Riley County

Riley County Commission 2013The reconstruction of McDowell Creek Road has been a topic brought up during several previous Riley County Commission meetings, and the topic was revisited during Thursday’s meeting.

Public Works Director, Leon Hobson reminded the commission of their most recent discussion in late July-where commissioners viewed and discussed seven different options involving price reductions for the project.  At that time, commissioners accepted four of the seven options, including reducing the pavement thickness from 10″to 9″ over the entire project.

Hobson presented an addendum to the Olsson Associates design contract for the road project, in the amount of $49,600.

    The commission approved this unanimously.

Hobson made a presentation regarding another project in the county:  the CiCo Park detention structure and sledding hill project.

The City of Manhattan has approached the Riley County Commission previously about the use of specific areas within CiCo Park. for the project.  Hobson shared updated plans, as the City has reduced the sledding hill from four slopes down to three slopes, and he shared temporary and permanent easements with commissioners.

The commission unanimously approved to sign the easements.
