The Minnesota Vikings have back tracked what they addressed about running back Adrian Peterson earlier in the week and now take a stance by barring the former Oklahoma Sooner from team activities as they let the justice system play out in Peterson’s felony child abuse charge. Peterson was indicted last week in Texas, on a felony count of reckless or negligent injury to a child. The charge stems from an incident that reportedly left bruises and wounds on much of his 4-year-old son. Both relievers gave up runs for the first time in nearly three months as the Kansas City Royals’ dominant bullpen was touched up Tuesday night in a 7-5 loss to the Chicago White Sox. The Manhattan City Commission received the results of the 2013 City Audit Tuesday from its consultant, Varney and Associates. “In our opinion, the financial statements and underlying records present fairly, in all material respects, the financial position of the City,” said Matt Schwartz, manager and CPA with Varney and Associates. The audit did suggest that City Management keep closer tabs on payroll processing and reporting, as there was a significant error in reporting of federal wages to the IRS. In conjunction with the United States Constitution Day observance, the Kansas Court of Appeals heard six hearings in K-State’s Forum Hall, in the student union, on Tuesday. The first case heard by the three judge panel was out of Marshall County. In this case, the City of Marysville charged Matthew Sain in municipal court with one court each of domestic battery and disorderly conduct. Allegedly the court refused to compel one of the City’s witnesses. This case was dismissed, and it was subsequently appealed to the district court. The district court dismissed the City’s appeal.
