K-State has replaced outgoing hitting coach Mike Clement with Andy Sawyers, who will have the title of Associate Head Coach/Offensive Coordinator. Sawyers spent two seasons as an assistant on Hill’s staff in 2009 and 2010 when K-State made their first two NCAA Regional appearances in school history. The Wildcats led the Big 12 in batting average and stolen bases in each of those seasons. OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) A National Transportation Safety Board report on an Oklahoma plane crash that killed two Kansas men says a part of the aircraft was found more than a mile from the crash site. The April 7, 2013, crash killed retired gynecologist Ronald Marshall of Manhattan, Kansas, and Chris Gruber, the development director for the college of veterinary medicine at Kansas State University in Manhattan. A Leonardville man facing a second degree murder charge in a 2008 case in Riley County is now set for an October first hearing. Howard Barrett, 58, is accused in the February 2008 stabbing death of Thomas James, 48, of Clay Center, who was trying to do pest control work in Barrett’s apartment in Leonardville. The new hearing date was set earlier in the week (Juy 15th). Democratic gubernatorial candidate Paul Davis announced earlier through Republicans for Kansas Values that dozens of former and current GOP officials endorsed him rather than likely GOP nominee Gov. This was a question addressed during Thursday’s joint city/county meeting, held at City Hall on Poyntz Avenue. MATC President, Rob Edleston stressed the need for funding, as they have raised tuition every year for the past decade.
