Marcus Foster scored 25 points and Kansas State overcame a stretch which saw them go the first seven minutes of the game without a Field Goal to rally and defeat Oral Roberts 71-63 Wednesday night at Bramlage Coliseum to pick up their first win of the 2013-14 season. ABILENE, Kan. (AP) A former Kansas teacher will spend 15 weekends in jail for having sexual relations with a 17-year-old male student. The Abilene Reflector-Chronicle reports Amber Stroda, 28, will also serve three days of probation under the sentence she received Wednesday in Dickinson County District Court. Stroda taught third grade at Solomon Elementary School and was also a dance team sponsor at Solomon High School. She resigned from her teaching job in October 2012. (AP) Several Arizona groups want to join a lawsuit opposing efforts by Kansas and Arizona to force a federal agency to help the states’ enforce their proof-of-citizenship rules for new voters. KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) A Missouri man who sold counterfeit goods at a store in Kansas has been sentenced to 18 months in prison. U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom said in a news release Wednesday that Jehad Shalabi, 45, of Blue Springs, Mo., pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to traffic in counterfeit trademark goods. He sold the merchandise at the Joe Black store in Kansas City, Kan. Prosecutors say FBI agents working undercover bought counterfeit items at the store and agents searching the store in June 2011 seized 588 counterfeit items with trademarks including Polo Ralph Lauren, Nike and Major League…

TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) Kansas State Board of Education members are considering a proposal for a multistate group to develop new, standardized tests for public schools. The proposal on Wednesday’s agenda comes from the state Department of Education. Commissioner Diane DeBacker said the department wants the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium to develop math, reading and language arts tests to be given first in spring 2015. Kansas is among 21 states involved in running the consortium, which is based in Washington state.
