EUREKA, Kan. (AP) The Kansas Bureau of Investigation has joined the search for a 35-year-old man suspected of killing two people and wounding a third in the southeastern part of the state. KFDI-FM reports the Greenwood County sheriff’s office has identified those killed in Wednesday night’s shootings as a 54-year-old man and a 52-year-old woman. A 26-year-old woman who was also shot was in stable condition Thursday at a Wichita hospital. The shootings took place at a home in Eureka, about 60 miles east of Wichita. The four-day K-State blood drive is complete. Volunteer blood donors gave 675 pints of blood this week. As the largest single supplier of blood and blood products in the United States, the American Red Cross collects and processes more than 40 percent of the blood supply. Red Cross authorities attribute that to colleges that host blood drives, which play an important role in helping to ensure an adequate blood supply for patients in need as almost 20 percent of the millions of donations made each year come from high school and college blood drives. A man convicted of first degree murder and other charges in Geary County nearly 40 years ago is up for a public comment session and possible parole. Frank Pencek, 66, was convicted in 1975 in connection with a May 1974 incident involving murder, kidnapping, and rape. Elizabeth Bush, 20, was kidnapped, raped, and killed at Milford Lake. She was studying for a recreation degree at Kansas State and had been working a summer job at Milford Lake. She was stabbed 27 times. WASHINGTON (AP) Police say the U.S. Capitol has been put on a security lockdown amid reports of possible shots fired outside the building. People standing outside the Supreme Court across the street from Congress were hurried into the court building by authorities. In a notice distributed by email, the U.S. Capitol Police advised everyone to “close, lock and stay away from external doors and windows.The notice said gunshots have been reported on Capitol Hill. Two Manhattan men have been arrested by Riley County Police on drug-related charges following execution of a search warrant Wednesday afternoon at approximately 4:45 in the 600 block of South Eighth Street . Drugs and paraphernalia were seized. 27-year-olds John Martin and Aswad Bartley were taken into custody for charges which include possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and conspiracy to distribute marijuana. Martin’s bond was set at $25,000, with Bartley’s set at $10,000.
