The K-State Alumni Association has reported a record breaking 12 percent increase in alumni engagement for the fiscal year. In fact Kansas State has been 1st among the big 12 in percentages of graduate alumni participation for the past 15 years. Assistant Vice President, and Director of Communications Steve Logback says that the continued success of the association can be attributed to new initiatives such as outreach to international, and out of state alumni. ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (AP) Tight end Tony Moeaki has been removed from the Kansas City Chiefs’ physically unable to perform list and participated in their morning walkthrough Monday. The second-year player from Iowa ran some routes for the first time since he was placed on the PUP list at the beginning of training camp. Noxious weed director Tim Eisenbarth reported more than $25,000 in sales for the month of July, saying that much of the figure is attributed to private sales. It was a deadly weekend in Wabaunsee county, with two un-related deaths occurring. Saturday evening the Wabaunsee County Sheriff’s office deputies responded to McFarland, with an accident reported in the 200 block of Market Street. 34-year-old Gerad Cole of Wamego had apparently fallen from a trailer which was being pulled by a 2005 dodge pick up. Cole and others were in the process of moving household items from one residence to another at the time. Cole sustained a severe head injury and was transported to Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka by life star helicopter where he was later pronounced dead.…

A Manhattan woman has been sentenced to four years in federal prison for diverting prescription pain killers. 35 year old Katherine Surowski, who had been working at a Kmart in Salina when the crimes occurred, was sentenced to four years today (Monday), according to U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom in Wichita. Surowski had pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute and dispense controlled substances and one count of health care fraud.
