At about 6 p.m., KMAN received information from the Riley County Police Department that a tractor trailer struck an electrical pole near 2200 block of Anderson Avenue and Bellehaven Road. This caused a power outage stretching east to College Heights Road with reports from residents stating the outage extends to Sunset Avenue. This has shut down traffic heading west towards Westloop with Riley County Police turning around cars near the KSU Foundation building. A short time ago, KMAN spoke with a Westar Energy representative who clarified the report saying the truck trailer clipped a cable line which brought down two power poles at 5:30pm. This caused a power outage that stretches east to College Heights Road and traffic was shut down on that stretch. Westar Energy reports approximately 1,100 residents lost electricity as a result of the incident, however full power should be restored in the next few hours. K-State’s all-time leading scorer Jacob Pullen scored 22 points in his professional debut in the top Italian basketball league. Pullen led Angelico Biella in scoring as they defeated Scavolini PS 76-65 on Sunday. He was 7 of 11 from 2-point range, 1 of 7 beyond the arc, and a perfect 5 for 5 from the foul stripe. Charges have officially been filed against a Salina man involved in a three county chase the end of last week–and those charges are somewhat different than what was originally listed. 55 year old Robert Smith faces charges of attempted second degree homicide, possession of methamphetamine, aggravated assault of a law enforcement officer, aggravated battery and various other assault, fleeing and eluding, and crimiinal damage charges. Smith’s first appearance in Pottawatomie county Court is set for 2:30 today (Tuesday). Riley County Police have arrested Garrett Goetz, 24, of Manhattan following an incident at the intersection of Kimball and Browning Avenues Saturday evening which saw him get into a confrontation with Officer Julia Goggins. Goetz allegedly shot Goggins with a Crossman pellet gun after she tried to remove Goetz from the intersection as he attempted to direct traffic following the K-State/Missouri football game. RCPD Captain Kurt Molrup says Goetz went into his residence near the intersection, where he proceeded to shoot the pellet gun at Goggins after pumping the gun several times. A Missouri move to the SEC could generate as much as $12 million more in annual TV revenue, according to a document obtained by The Associated Press. Missouri curators voted unanimously last week to give Chancellor Brady Deaton authority to explore options to leave the Big 12. The curators reviewed the 45-page document that outlines the pros and cons of leaving the Big 12 for the Southeastern Conference. TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) Three Kansas organizations will share nearly $275,000 to support production of locally grown fruits and vegetables, The funds come from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Specialty Crop Block Grant program, with the awards being made by the Kansas Department of Agriculture. The largest share about $172,000 goes to the Kansas Rural Center for a project that will provide technical help to local producers and buyers. Organizations throughout Kansas will be involved.
