WICHITA, Kan. (AP) A former bookkeeper for a Wichita-based chain of radio stations faces revised federal charges of stealing more than $2 million from his employer. William H. Nolan has been issued a summons to appear Wednesday in U.S. District Court to answer charges of mail fraud and wire fraud. The charges are outlined in a revised indictment that also seeks a $2 million forfeiture judgment. Nolan worked at LS Media Inc., which was previously known as Mid-America Ag Network, Broadcast Technical Associates and Steckline Communications. WICHITA, Kan. (AP) A robbery suspect died after being shot by Wichita police. Two other suspects in a robbery at a Dollar General store were not injured and are in police custody. KWCH reports that police went to the store Sunday night after receiving a 911 call. Police say a robbery was in progress when officers arrived. When three people left the store, there was a confrontation and shots were fired. One suspect was hit in the chest several times and later died in the hospital. No other information was immediately available

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) A small church in west Wichita was heavily damaged in a fire but no injuries were reported. Wichita firefighters who went to the scene about 12:30 a.m. Monday encountered heavy smoke and flames. KFDI reports that firefighters had to fight the blaze from outside in part because a nearby power line was arcing. They eventually put out the fire. The cause is under investigation. Fire Investigations Capt. Stu Bevis says the fire did $130,000 in damage.

TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) The attorney for a woman accused of killing a Topeka couple in 2002 is asking a judge to allow him to hire a private investigator. Attorney Mark Bennett says the private investigator is needed to pursue new leads in the shooting deaths of 53-year-old Karen Harkness and 47-year-old Michael Sisco. They were found dead in July 2002 in Harkness’ Topeka apartment. Sisco’s ex-wife, Dana Chandler, was charged in their deaths in July 2011. ATCHISON, Kan. (AP) Distraught and anxious family members gathered Monday outside a Kansas grain elevator as authorities searched for three more people likely killed in a weekend blast that left three others dead. Lynn and Patty Field, of Atchison, said their 21-year-old son, Curtis Field, was among those still officially considered missing. They said the two others were state grain inspectors. Pricing for the Flint Hills Discovery Center is one of many items on the minds of city officials for Tuesday night’s City Commission meeting. According to The American Cancer Society the number of deaths from breast cancer has gone down this year.  The ACS states that this is probably connected to early detection, and better treatment methods. Mercy Regional Health Center radiologist Doctor Gregg Welle says early detection is crucial.   Doctor Welle recommends that women over 40 should have a breast exam annually. ST. LOUIS (AP) The Big 12 appears to be resigned to losing Missouri in announcing West Virginia as the newest member of the Big 12. The league issued a statement Friday announcing unanimous approval to accept West Virginia effective July 1. The Mountaineers become the second program to join the Big 12 this month, following TCU. The Big 12 then listed its expected membership for next season 10 teams, with Missouri not among them. Missouri is weighing a move to the Southeastern Conference.
