Some good news and some bad news on the K-State football depth chart…The good news is that RT Christian Duffie is back on the two-deep and expected play Saturday. Carvis Willis, who has started the first 3 games of the season is still listed as the starter. This comes as the Wildcats have struggled at times offensively because the O-Line hasn’t been as crisp as expected. Missouri succesfully kept Chris Klieman’s team off balance up front in last Saturday’s showdown in Columbia. The bad news…Daniel Green, a senior leader who has made 232 tackles during his long college football career,…

Harrison Mevis kicked a 61-yard field goal with no time remaining Saturday, sending Missouri to a field-storming, come-from-behind 30-27 victory over No. 15 Kansas State in a nonconference showdown of former Big 12 rivals. The Tigers had a chance to give their big-legged kicker a shorter attempt after Brady Cook had driven them into Kansas State territory in the final seconds. But after huddling on the sideline, Missouri coach Eli Drinkwitz was too slow getting his field-goal unit onto the field, and the delay-of-game penalty pushed the Tigers back 5 yards. Cook proceeded to throw an incomplete pass in the…

Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones said Wednesday that he would have changed his approach to his holdout if given another chance. But the All-Pro pass rusher also said he was happy with how things worked out. He was at practice for the first time since agreeing to a reworked one-year deal Monday that includes incentives that could push his salary over the $19.5 base that he was scheduled to make. Chiefs coach Andy Reid expected Jones to play on Sunday in Jacksonville. He watched last week’s opening loss to Detroit from a suite at Arrowhead Stadium.

Kansas State would jump out to an early lead on Troy Saturday afternoon at Bill Snyder Family Stadium, but it would belie the way the rest of the day would. Eventually, K-State’s offense would have the ball enough to again find the flow and finish a 42-13 win a flourish that didn’t reflect how the game was played. The Trojans challenged the Cats with stout defense and some big chunks by the air through the second and third quarters. The Wildcats built a 14-0 lead early in the second period, but the Trojans dominated the yardage and time of possession…

The Chiefs’ Travis Kelce was held out of Wednesday’s final workout and listed as questionable for Thursday night’s season opener against Detroit, one day after the All-Pro tight end hyperextended his knee in practice. Kelce was the only player to carry an injury designation for the Super Bowl champions, who will be raising their latest banner before the first game of the NFL season. That means that wide receiver Kadarius Toney and cornerback L’Jarius Sneed, both of whom have dealt with knee injuries throughout training camp, are expected to be in the lineup. Chiefs coach Andy Reid did not discuss…
