The Kansas City Chiefs have parted ways with CB Javier Arenas and in exchange receive FB Anthony Sherman from the Arizona Cardinals.
The Alabama product played in a total of 47 games for Kansas City since being drafted by the Chiefs in 2010. Arenas recorded eight passes defended in 2012, a number that ranked third on the team. Besides playing corner, the 25-year-old can also return punts. Arenas averaged 12.8 yards per punt return in 2011, a number that led the AFC and ranked third in the NFL.
Sherman started in four games for the Cardinals last season, but rarely touched the ball. The 24-year-old fullback caught five passes for 39 yards in 2012 and didn’t record a carry. In two seasons with the Cardinals, Sherman started a total of 11 games and caught 12 passes for 111 yards. Sherman had been with Arizona since 2011 when the Cardinals drafted him in the fifth round out of Central Connecticut State.
