According to deputy city manger Jason Hilgers the vetting of the final four candidates for the position of Manhattan assistant city manager continued on Wednesday. The candidates have bested over 50 other applicants so far in the selection process.
Candidates Jacob Wood, Kiel Mangus, Jamie Shockley, and Cody Sims were present at an informal meet and greet held in City Hall on Wednesday evening. The candidates mingled, and engaged in discussions with senior city staff, citizens, city commissioners, and Mayor Wynn Butler.
During the earlier portion of the day the prospects went through an exercise which included presenting in front of a mock commission board on the topic of rental inspections. Hilgers says each candidate brings their own set of skills to the table, and at least two years of experience working within city administration.
As the selection process moves forward each candidate will face continued vetting of references, and Hilgers says the final negotiations could begin as early as two weeks with the winning candidate.
