K-State was picked to finish third in the Big 12, behind Oklahoma and Baylor, by the media on Thursday.
The Wildcats beat out Texas by a single point, with 377 points overall, in the poll. It’s the highest K-State has been picked since the Big 12 started round robin play in 2011. Last season the Wildcats finished fifth in the league after being picked to finish sixth by the conference media.
Oklahoma racked up 47 of the 56 first place votes to finish first in the poll. They were followed by the defending Big 12 champion Baylor Bears who had the other nine first place votes.
K-State will bring Tyler Lockett, Jake Waters, Ryan Mueller, B.J. Finney and Jonathan Truman to Big 12 media days next Tuesday in Dallas.
