MHS boys gain momentum before hitting the road

Coming off a heart-breaking 42-39 Valentine’s Day loss to Topeka Hayden at home, the Indians looked to respond with a win against (5-12, 3-8) Shawnee Heights  to end the week. With the leadership of seniors Deante Burton and Brandon Payne combining for 23 points, the Tribe were able to fight off the Thunderbirds to win 50-41.

Although the team prevailed, Head Coach Tim Brooks thought the team could have done a much better job from the charity stripe going 9-24 on the night.

The win on Senior Night gives MHS momentum as they take the road for their final games of the regular season, starting at Emporia on Tuesday. The Spartans dropped triple digits on their way to a 101-56 over winless Topeka West.
