MHS Girls Finish 4th at McPherson


The Manhattan High girls basketball team ran into a tough field at the Mid America Classic in McPherson losing their final two games including falling on Saturday night to host McPherson 55-48 in the third place game.

Manhattan trailed 18-14 after the first quarter and would trail 31-30 at halftime. Both teams would score 10 points in the third quarter as MHS trailed 41-40 going into the fourth quarter.

McPherson would outscore the Lady Indians 14-8 in the fourth quarter as Manhattan went cold offensively for a big stretch in the closing minutes of the game.

Manhattan was led by Madison Mittie’s 15 points and seven rebounds. She also tallied three assists and two steals. Gigi McAtee finished with 11 points and four rebounds. Garrin Williams finished the night with 10 points, five rebounds and three steals. Taylor Robertson led the Lady Pups with 18 points and five rebounds.

The Lady Pups (#2 4A-I) improves to 12-1 after defeating the Tribe. MHS falls to 9-4 overall as they will get back to Centennial League play next Friday night on the road at Topeka West.
