No Major Changes for Green Break

RCPD CoinFake Patty’s Day, or “green break”, was the main discussion item during Tuesday’s Aggieville Business Association meeting.

Due to the success of last year’s event, the Riley County Police intend to take many of the same precautions this year.  Officers will be taking 12 hour shifts each, and will be patrolling not only the Aggieville area, but the surrounding residential areas as well.

The few changes include: the parade will take place at 2 p.m. this year and shuttles will be provided to hotels and possibly the old stadium parking lot.

Individuals from an Aggieville clothing store expressed concern about the crime rate around the area, especially with their young female employees leaving out the back of the business through the alley at night.  The girl’s often request their boyfriends or parents to pick them up so they can be safe from drunks.

RCPD Director, Brad Schoen reminded the concerned business owners, that police escorts are always available if they call in when they feel unsafe.
