    Update: Pedestrian struck by vehicle identified

    Update 2 p.m. Wednesday

    MANHATTAN — An 82-year-old Manhattan man has been identified as the victim of a vehicle-pedestrian crash Tuesday.

    Riley County Police say Lee Hildebrecht was crossing the street at the intersection of N. Juliette Ave and Bluemont at around 8:45 a.m. when he was struck by a passenger car. Hildebrecht was transported to Via Christi Hospital with critical injuries.

    The driver, 21-year-old John Wendt of Manhattan was cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

    Update 1 p.m Tuesday: 

    MANHATTAN — A pedestrian was seriously hurt Tuesday morning after being struck by a vehicle near Bluemont Ave. and Juliette.

    Riley County Police say the accident occurred just before 9 a.m.  The pedestrian was transported to Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan with critical injuries. Police say the driver of the vehicle was issued a citation for failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk. Neither party has been identified.

    Police officials say information on those involved will be released in the police activity report Wednesday morning. The accident scene caused minor traffic adjustments and was cleared shortly before 9:30 a.m.

    MANHATTAN — One person was hospitalized Tuesday morning after a vehicle struck a pedestrian near the intersection of Bluemont Ave. and Juliette.

    The accident occurred just before 9 a.m. According to Riley County EMS, a patient was transported to Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan with critical injuries. The injured person as well as the vehicle’s driver have not yet been identified. The driver was cited on scene for failure to yield to a pedestrian.

    The accident scene caused minor traffic adjustments and was cleared shortly before 9:30 a.m.
