Standing in the Riley County Court House Plaza, 12 red silhouettes stood as 12 volunteers waited for their story to be read.
This was the scene Friday at noon as the Domestic Violence Task Force held their annual event to recognize those victims of domestic violence and whom have lost their lives from it.
The 12 figures each represented a story of a real victim within the state of Kansas and some event within the region, including Tanya Maldonado and her 13-month-old son Juan.
Judy Davis, executive director of the Crisis Center, explained they have been doing this event for a number of years and continues with the hope that it illustrates the effects of domestic violence.
