Riley County commissioners discussed leasing proposals for a total of 32 acres at 1435 Collins Lane during their meeting on Thursday.
The land is currently home to the UFM community gardens program, but is owned by the county.
Dennis Peterson, a member of the county property management committee, says there has been talk about an extension at the location.
“The request is for ten acres for now and designates the west part,” Peterson says. “We would rather see the use of the northeast quadrant, saving some of that going west.”
The county commission voted to allow UFM to expand its community gardens program by ten acres.
