Update 3 p.m. Thursday
MANHATTAN — A southeast Kansas man was killed Thursday in a wreck northwest of Manhattan.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says it happened just before 8 a.m. near the intersection of Kansas Highway 113 and U.S. 24 (the intersection of Seth Child and Tuttle Creek Blvd.) A passenger car driven by 40-year-old Andrew Drysdale of Coffeyville was northbound on Seth Child when he failed to stop at the intersection. As a result, Drysdale’s vehicle went through the guardrail, traveled down an embankment and struck a tree before rolling onto its top.
Drysdale was pronounced dead at the scene. There were no other occupants in the vehicle.
According to the Highway Patrol, Drysdale was not wearing a seat belt.
10:30 a.m. Thursday
MANHATTAN — One person was killed Thursday morning in a single-vehicle crash northwest of Manhattan.
The incident occurred sometime around 8 a.m. near the intersection of US Hwy 24 (Tuttle Creek Blvd.) and Kansas Hwy 13 (Seth Child Road). Few details are known at this time, but officers on scene found a single vehicle had struck a guardrail north of the intersection and left the roadway. The vehicle rolled down an embankment. Riley County EMS confirmed that the driver died at the scene.
Authorities have not released the deceased’s name. The accident remains under investigation by the Kansas Highway Patrol.
