Weather-related Injuries Reported

Mercy Regional

While many of us think of road conditions and car accidents during snow storms, other types of  injuries during such weather. Larry Counchman, Director of Emergency and EMS Services for Mercy Regional Health Center, tells KMAN his office was busy the end of last week, with 16 to 20 such incidents. Most were of the minor nature, with falls a common theme.

And Couchman reminds us of another common theme when it comes to winter-related injuries, sledding-related accidents. He says this includes lacerations, minor head injuries, maybe a fractured bone or two–due to a little too much aggressiveness on the slopes.

And the emergency director indicates in addition to using some caution,  be sure footing is solid–he also says not to over-exert yourself when shovelling snow.
