A Salina man says he wants everyone to know that he’s alive and well and has not been in a plane crash.
Fred Leepers says he was wrongly identified as the pilot of an experimental ultralight aircraft that crashed August 6th in Butler County. He says friends and family have been contacting him since then expressing concern.
The actual pilot was Miles Frederick Leeper, a 43-year-old Douglass resident.
Kansas Highway Patrol spokesman the misunderstanding could have been caused by someone keying in the wrong letter to a computer right after the crash.
Fred Leepers says he understands that the two men have very similar names and he’s not upset with the highway patrol.
The Salina Journal reports that the actual pilot was in fair condition Wednesday at Wesley Medical Center.
