Three candidates named for Health Dept. Administrator replacement

The pool of candidates for the Riley County-Manhattan health department administrator has been narrowed down to three.

Health board president Brady Burton made the announcement during Wednesday’s meeting. The candidates include Roger Closson (Manhattan), Larry Franken (Kansas City), and Suzanne Kufahl (Wheaton).

As the board gets ready to welcome in the applicants, Burton and county commissioner Karen McCulloh will be setting up interview dates. Health board members Debbie Nuss and Dr. Paul Benne will be preparing the questions. The entire health board will be present during the actual interview.

Burton says he would like the interviews to be conducted during September, with the board making it’s decision by the end of the month.

The board failed to reach any of the candidates by phone during an executive session.
