Exciting news has come out of Wamego, which houses a Caterpillar production facility. The Wamego Caterpillar facility has been chosen by the company to go to “Enhanced Production”. Director of the Pottawatomie County Economic Development Corporation Bob Cole said on Tuesday’s “In Focus” that the upgrade will create 120 jobs for the area. Cole also explained the regional impact that Caterpillar has, stating that many employees live all around the area in communities such as Alma, Eskridge, Manhattan, and even Frankfort and Seneca. The upgrades were made possible by a joint proposal from the City of Wamego and Pottawatomie County, as well as many others. Cole says he expects the work to begin very shortly.
