The student-created Fake Patty’s Day holiday has become a fixture in Manhattan over the past couple of years; however, the event has created it’s fair share of problems extending well beyond Sunday hangovers
Manhattan city manager Ron Fehr tells KMAN finding ways to regulate Fake Patty’s will be the focus of tomorrow’s Manhattan City Commission work session.
The “celebration” has caused multiple legal problems. RCPD received nearly 800 calls during last year’s holiday. Additionally, the number of citations issued during the holiday has more than quadrupled since 2007. With all of that taken into account, Fehr believes stiffer legal penalties could be in place for 2012.
The Manhattan City Commission meets tomorrow (Tuesday) at 5 at City Hall. The meeting will be televised live on Manhattan Cox Cable Channel 3.
