Source: Missouri to apply to join SEC

The New York Times quoted an unidentified college official Monday night as saying Missouri’s application to the SEC for membership is “inevitable and imminent.”  The source did not provide a timeline for such a move, but the Missouri Board of Curators will hold a meeting on Thursday in Kansas City.  The Curators’ agenda calls for a closed executive session at 3:45pm, that could be similar to an October 4th meeting in St. Louis when they authorized chancellor Brady Deaton to explore possibly leaving the Big 12.  The Kansas City Star is reporting that Big 12 interim commissioner Chuck Neinas and SEC commissioner Mike Slive have recently spoken.  Neinas reportedly told Slive to let him know if the SEC was going to extend Missouri an invitation, and Slive did not indicate “one way or another” whether they would offer Mizzou.
