More than 83 pounds of various drugs were collected in Manhattan recently, as part of a drug take back day.
On Saturday, October 29th, the Riley County Police Department, in cooperation with the Drug Enforcement Administration, held a drug take back day that consisted of two disposal sites in Manhattan. The goal of the event was to provide disposal sites for individuals to discard their unused or expired medications, thus reducing the chance of misuse or theft.
According to the D-E-A, approximately 38-hundred pounds of drugs were collected in Kansas at various sites. This was the first year the Riley County Police Department was involved in the event. The DEA has tentatively scheduled the next event for April of next year.
