A speaker at the ECM facility across from campus was trying to give a different perspective on the death penalty Sunday afternoon.
Celeste Dixon, from Larned Kansas, is a family member of a murder victim who is against the death penalty. Dixon’s mother was murdered in 1986 in Hockley Texas during a robbery.
Dixon says she wants her personal story to give another side of the story that isn’t often heard. Dixon believes that the death penalty doesn’t give closure for families, and instead my be more harmful for their well being.
Dixon spoke on Sunday at an event hosted by the Kansas Coalition Against the Death Penalty. For more information on the program you can visit www.ksabolition.org.
