A million books is a lot–and U-S Senator Jerry Moran of Kansas was in Manhattan Friday to pack the millionth book for the “Help Us Learn, Give Us Hope” organization. More than 950,000 pounds of supplies and 1.25 million books have been donated recently, with supplies providing for an estimated 492,000 children and thousands of teachers in Afghanistan. Moran placed the symbolic millionth book into a box, which happened to be a geometry book, while speaking to the many volunteers for their efforts at the National Guard Armory .

Moran says while our military has done so much, the ability to see a stable country in Afghanistan really revolves around efforts such as Colonel Gary LaGrange’s “Help us Learn, Give us Hope.”
