Sewer systems are an essential part of any city, and last night’s Manhattan City Commission work session concerned certain sewer lines that may need to be improved. After years of studying flows and other factors affecting the city’s sanitary sewer lines, improvements are being considered. Among the possible improvements that were discussed were widening some high-capacity sewer lines, and lining others with a fiberglass inlay to prevent leakage and other issues.
The Commission also took under consideration a plan to update floodplain maps, in light of last year’s flooding along the Wildcat Creek watershed.
