A preliminary hearing has been set for a rural Manhattan man charged in connection with a first degree murder case from late last year.

March second is the date for Domingo Soto’s preliminary hearing on aiding and abetting charges, in connection with the murder of Steve Freele, whose body was found near a rural road in Riley County December 7, 2011.

RCPD said after the arrest the murder of Freele stemmed from a series of other crimes in the Manahattan area, leading to seven total arrests, including Soto.

A status hearing was held for Soto, 41, Tuesday in Riley County district court.
