2012 is not even half over, but Manhattan’s City Commission looked ahead to 2013’s budget at last night’s work session. Director of Finance Bernie Hayen presented Commissioners with a comprehensive overview of how the numbers for next year stack up, which included many different factors and department budgets. Many issues were discussed at length, including tax rates, operating costs for the pools in Manhattan, and a host of other budgetary issues. One discussion even focused on the roundabout at 3rd street, and how to fund artwork to go on top of it.

Commissioners were pleased with the outlook for next year, but much discussion is still to be had. The next budget work session will take place on June 12th.
