Manhattan claims a new record as it welcomes one of the first non-profit restaurant in the nation. “Local” will be located at the current home of “Ingredient” and will donate 100% of its profits to different non-profit organizations in Manhattan. Owner, Dave Dreiling, mentions this is not the only unique aspect of the restaurant. “Local” will also feature locally grown food from area farmers. And a two acre farm less than a half mile from the restaurant will have fresh fruits and vegetables incorporated into the menu.
“Local” will benefit a different local non-profit organization every month and will open May 19th. Flint Hills Breadbasket is the first to benefit. Not only will the restaurant be providing the organization with a huge donation, they will also be providing advertisement and a chance to get their message out to the community..
Dreiling adds that any organization wanting to be featured at “Local” can fill out an application by visiting LocalFoodandFriends.com.
