Budget season rolls on for the Manhattan City Commission, and at last night’s work session several outside agencies came forward with funding proposals for the upcoming year. The discussion on the proposals intertwined with property tax and mill levy debates, and many topics were brought forth into the debate. The outside agencies included Boys and Girls Club, ATA, and the Manhattan Arts Center.
Thus far, very few agencies requested more than their previous year’s request, a fact that impressed several Commissioners. The next round of outside agencies, including the Manhattan area chamber of commerce, Manhattan Public Library, and others will present their proposals to the Commission on July 10th.
