The selection process for jury in the Luis Aguirre case is nearing the completion.
As of Friday morning the last panels of potential jurors were questioned by the prosecution and defense in preparation for the trial on June 18th.
Prosecutors were concerned that perhaps four alternates might be beneficial for the capital murder case… rather than the two currently planned for the trial, but Riley County District Court Judge Meryl Wilson ruled the previously stated 14 Jurors would be sufficient for the jury pool.
The next phase starting on Friday afternoon entails defense and prosecutors to strike potential jurors from the pool until 12 Jurors and two alternates are selected.
Aguirre is charged with the murders of 18-year-old Tanya Maldonado, and her 13-month-old son Juan in September of 2009.
