Beginning July 1, Kansas State University will be combining their performing arts programs to create the new School of Music, Theatre and Dance.
“Over the past year, the faculty, staff and department heads of the music department and the communications study, theatre and dance departments had a conversation about the future of the programs and how they fit within the school’s 2025 plan,” said Peter Dorhout, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences.
These discussions led to making the decision to combine the programs to make an even better creative outlet for student.
“Not only will the school be a wonderful draw for perspective students who are interested in being a part of something like this, but I also think this will have a wonderful impact on the local and regional performing arts program,” said Dorhout.
The school isn’t going to be just for students earing majors or minors in music, theatre and dance, but will include more than 4,000 students each year from across all colleges at the university.
