The August 7th Riley County Primary Election is not too far away. Several dates this week are notable when it comes to the election.
Tuesday, marks the final day for voter registration in Riley County as the book will be closed at the end of the business day. Training for poll workers also begins today.
Riley County Clerk Rich Vargo says Wednesday starts a significant part of the election process, advance voting.
“It’s the earliest opportunity for people to participate in the elections,” Vargo says. “A lot of people just want to beat the heat and hot weather often deters voter participation.”
Advance voting in-person begins next Tuesday July 24th at the Riley County Courthouse on the second floor and goes from 8am to 7pm each weekday, but is also open on Saturday.
Voters over the age of 65 may provide an expired driver’s license to use as identification if current identification does not exist.
