K-State volleyball falls at Texas Tech

Earning their first win over a ranked team since 2004, Texas Tech knocked off #20 K-State on Saturday night in Lubbock.  The Lady Raiders claimed the match in four sets, 25-20, 15-25, 25-22, 25-23.  The Cats nearly forced a fifth set as they rallied from a 20-15 deficit to lead 22-21 in the fourth.  But, Tech scored four of the final five points, and the game-winner came on a K-State block that bounced off the knee of Lady Raider libero Rachel Brummitt and behind the Cats into the opposite corner for a point.

K-State (21-7, 8-7 Big 12) was led in kills by Kathleen Ludwig with 15, while Courtney Traxson had 12, and Alex Muff added 10.  Texas Tech (14-16, 3-11) was paced by Miara Cave’s 13 kills, and Brianna Grant had 10.

The Cats, who are NCAA tournament bound, will close the regular season by hosting Oklahoma on Saturday night at 7:00pm at Ahearn Fieldhouse.  The Standard Plumbing, Heating & Air pregame show will begin at 6:30 at 1350KMAN.com.
