KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) The University of Kansas Hospital and a group of physicians say they plan to form a clinical organization, although details are not final.
The hospital and KU Physicians announced Thursday they plan to eventually combine to improve their patients’ experience. KU Physicians is an independent group that manages 18 different physician practices.
Leaders of the two groups said the consolidation would streamline operations and reduce costs while helping patients. They also hope the effort will improve doctors’ training and help fund medical education.
The Lawrence Journal-World reports the details of the consolidation will be worked out through the middle of this year.
