    Soldiers Welcomed Home

    Members of the Kansas City Royals baseball team made a surprise appearance at a welcome home ceremony for returning soldiers, Tuesday at Fort. Riley. 240 members of Members of the 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 1st Division, reunited with friends and family following a nine-month deployment to Afghanistan.

    MLB Hall of Fame third baseman and former Royal, George Brett; Royal’s Hall of Fame pitcher, Jeff Montgomery; current Royal’s pitcher, Jeremy Guthrie; Royals Broadcaster, Rex Hudler and Slugger the Mascott, attended the ceremony. The Players signed autographs, and thanked the soldiers for their service. The Royals Charities also presented a check for 10,000 dollars to the USO chapter at  Fort Riley.
