Toni Young scored 23 points and Kendra Suttles added 19 as 24th-ranked Oklahoma State overcame a slow start and eventually pulled away from the Kansas State Women’s Basketball team for an 80-45 victory Saturday afternoon at Gallagher-Iba Arena in Stillwater.

K-State which knocked off the Pokes in overtime earlier this season at Bramlage Coliseum got off to a hot start in this game with a three-point barrage to take a 15-9 lead. However, Oklahoma State was able to gain their footing and used a 17-2 run to take a 35-24 halftime lead.

As has been the case several times in recent games, K-State was not able to keep up in the second half and Oklahoma State was able to turn it up to another gear. The Cowgirls dominated the glass outrebounding Kansas State 50-22 including 34-13 in the Defensive Rebounding category.

Kansas State (13-12, 4-9) was led by Freshman Brianna Craig with 17 points while Brittany Chambers and Haley Texada added nine apiece. Oklahoma State (18-6, 7-6) had five players in double figures. Joining Young and Suttles were Liz Donohoe and Tiffany Bias with 13 points apiece and Brittney Martin with 11.

K-State will return to the Sooner State on Wednesday to face Oklahoma. Tipoff at Lloyd Noble Arena is set for 7 p.m.
