“A little disappointing” is the way Manhattan Finance Director Bernie Hayen describes the lastest sales tax numbers, released Tuesday morning.
$887,230 were collected in the February numbers, which actually reflect two months prior, or December of 2012. The adjusted rate is $819,068, which is down about $26,644 from the same time last year.
On a more positive note, grocery sales were up more than 13 percent compared to a year ago. However nearly every “big box” store was down anywhere from one to eight percent compared to the same period last year, including auto dealerships
