The Flint Hills Discovery Center Foundation held a public reception Friday, to welcome the four remaining candidates for Director of the Discovery Center.

    Candidates include:

Fred Goss – Assistant Superintendent for Missouri State Parks. He also assists in the operation of the 3,100 acre state park system with numerous amenities including an interpretive nature center.

Leslie Roe – Director of the Pioneer Museum and Riordan Mansion in Flagstaff, AZ.

Dana Thorpe –  Executive Director of The Building for Kids Children’s Museum in Appleton, WI.

Samuel Wegner – Most recently served as the Executive Director of the North Carolina Transportation Museum in Spencer, NC. Wegner has over 30 years experience in museum management and history education.

All four candidates spent most of Friday meeting Foundation members and Discovery Center employees, and negotiating a rigorous interview process.  The FHDC Foundation hopes to welcome a new Director some time in April.
