By KMAN Staff on October 15, 2014 Manhattan

school board 10-15By refinancing general obligation bonds, the Manhattan Ogden USD 383 is expected to save $478,000.

Director of Business Services, Lew Faust and Greg Vahrenberg with Piper Jaffrey presented this discussion.

This item was approved unanimously during Wednesday evening’s school board meeting.

Two other items were approved during the meeting:  the Frank Bergman re-roof architectural design and the payroll coordinator position.

As far as the payroll coordinator discussion, Faust explained this position would involve the same level job as the original coordinator.  The two would ideally work as a team to assist with payroll functions for the 1,600 school district staff members.

The salary for this position would be around $35,000-$37,000.

Ogden Elementary was recognized for their 2014 National Blue Ribbon School achievement.

Several Ogden faculty and staff members were in attendance for the recognition.  A round of applause and standing ovation was given to the group in attendance.

Some of the faculty members will be attending the official blue ribbon school ceremony in Washington D. C. in November.
